The state funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, September 19 – it will be held at Westminster Abbey and televised for the entire nation.

King Charles III has announced that September 19 will be a public holiday, so expect lots of disruption and events to be canceled across London. We recommend only going into the city center if you have to (or plan to line the streets to pay your respects).
Once the laying out is complete on the morning of September 19, the coffin will be taken in procession from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey, where the funeral will begin. Londoners will line the streets as the Queen is carried through the capital for the last time.
After the funeral, the Queen’s coffin will be taken to St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Then, finally, her Majesty will be laid to rest in the King George VI Memorial Chapel alongside her husband, Prince Phillip, her parents, and her sister.

Wednesday, September 14: The laying out will begin at 5 p.m. in Westminster Hall.
Monday, September 19 (Bank Holiday): The Queen’s funeral will occur at 11 a.m. in Westminster Abbey.
