The world famous Bond Street in Mayfair is a street like no other. Best known for its elegant stores selling exclusive brands, luxury goods, art and antiques, it is an unashamedly sophisticated place.
Here is the best of Bond Street and its surroundings.
The Royal Academy of Arts
Spend a morning browsing through the world-class exhibitions at the Royal Academy of Arts. This institute is groundbreaking in art and architecture and provides space for emerging artists.
There’s almost always something going on, but the summer exhibition is at the top of the list. Check the website to see what’s happening during your visit, and take time to visit one of the cafes or the restaurant on the property.
Bonhams
Bonhams is a private auction house that sells the world’s most prestigious art, antiques and cars. This can be an intimidating place, with bids going back and forth with big numbers … But it’s also fun to watch.
Sotheby’s
Sotheby’s opened a store on Bond Street in 1917, and that’s where the London location has remained. Each year, the large selection of high-end artwork draws collectors to this auction house.
The auction house offers a collection of luxury items – from handbags to art – and provides space for people to sell their valuables. Visit to store or browse, then return for a meal at Sotheby’s Restaurant to refuel.
Alexander McQueen
Who doesn’t relish the chance to add to their growing Alexander McQueen collection? This top designer store is a must-see on Bond Street. And for those who want to learn more about the brand, there’s something extra special.
The top floor of the building has opened up as a museum of sorts, showcasing the entire history of Alexander McQueen. This includes the brilliant designs of Lee Alexander McQueen as well as the creative process of Sarah Burton.
Chanel
Ever wonder what three floors of French fashion looks like? Look no further than this monumental flagship Chanel store. This is one of the largest Chanel stores in the world and exudes refined luxury from every corner.
You’ll find an entire collection of Chanel clothing and accessories, and you can enjoy VIP dressing rooms to try them on before you buy.
Louis Vuitton
This store screams for attention as soon as you see it. The iconic Louis Vuitton has been producing some of the most fantastic leather pieces since 1854.
Located on Bond Street LV, the store has a beautiful design and is well stocked. There is usually a wait to enter. But if there is an LV item on your wish list, this is a great stop.
Burberry
Burberry has been around since 1856 and has always been a big name in luxury fashion. This is a flagship store, clearly marked by the two British flags at the entrance. Although it is not as famous as the Regent Street store, it still offers the latest collections.
Expect free drinks and a friendly smile as you browse the eye-catching designs in this store.
Cartier
After sorting out the suits and classy suits, we still need some elegant jewelry to make the outfit work. Cartier is a world-renowned luxury jewelry store that pampers its customers with two stores on Bond Street.
Although they have two stores, they still encourage visitors to book in advance for a better shopping experience.
But shopping also makes you hungry at some point; you can satisfy that hunger here …
Sketch
Sketch does everything and more. The Michelin-starred restaurant is a joint effort between Pierre Gagnaire and Mourad Mazouz. The restaurant offers an ever-changing menu for both lunch and late afternoon menus.
The designs and furniture are all over the place, but fit into the space. Look forward to a bar and afternoon tea area, too.
Hakkasan
With over 20 years in business, Hakkasan is a Michelin-starred restaurant that celebrates Chinese cuisine. Using traditional techniques and the finest ingredients, Hakkasan is a must-visit.
You’ll need to book well in advance, however, to get an opening at this upscale restaurant. Chef Tong Chee Hwee leads this established kitchen, serving unique dishes daily.
Isabel
With its combination of Latin American and Mediterranean cuisine, Isabel is an excellent place to have lunch or late dinner, but don’t stop there. Isabel has an amazing cocktail menu that adds even more flair to the restaurant. With a great interior and exterior, Isabel is a great culinary experience.
Hush Mayfair
Hush is a popular local restaurant in the heart of Mayfair. The restaurant has two excellent dining areas and an award-winning cocktail lounge with a great selection of drinks. The outdoor patio is another place to enjoy a cocktail.
The menu offers several meat and seafood options, and there is a separate menu for private events. The atmosphere here is welcoming yet luxurious.
Mr Fogg`s
Mr. Fogg`s brand comes from Phileas Fogg, a Victorian traveler. The bar looks and feels like an elegant bar made for watching croquet, not soccer.
There is an obvious fun-loving feel to this bar. It’s also an award-winning bar that makes innovative drinks. Be prepared to stay here for a while as they also do food.
The Running Horse Mayfair
The oldest pub and kitchen in Mayfair, The Running Horse is an award-winning pub with a rustic look. Although not as large as others, the pub’s menu can give off a very homey atmosphere.
They offer great drinks, and ordering a nice pub-style side dish is a must. One of the best pubs in Mayfair and one I highly recommend.
Cafés
Feya Bond Street
Not only is this a regular cafe on Bond Street, but they also serve brunch here all day. Zahra Khan, a graduate of Gordon Ramsay’s culinary academy, launched Feya in 2018.
Classified as an elegant and modern café, Feya’s is a blend of art and food. The menu offers a selection of salads, sandwiches, cakes and pastries. There is also a breakfast menu, designed by cookbook author Virpi Mikkonen.
Drunch
Between Oxford and Bond Street is Drunch, a café-style restaurant. They serve everything from breakfast and brunch to lunch and dinner, and have a delicious selection of non-alcoholic drinks. The menu offers a good variety of dishes, from tasty bite-sized meals to their naughty menu for the less health-conscious.
